Commission confirms Uncorked and Fourth of July logistics; needs volunteers and an OLCC-certified alcohol monitor

Commission members reviewed logistics for Uncorked and the Fourth of July at the May 5 meeting and said the events are progressing but still need volunteers.
Commission staff reported portable toilets and a dumpster have been ordered and that Job Corps is scheduled to provide volunteers who may need meals while they are on site. Yard signs and banners were completed as a one-time purchase to be reused in future years.
Commissioners said they need one more alcohol monitor for Uncorked and reminded potential monitors that an OLCC permit is required. Wendy, the new commission member and a downtown business owner, said she will "get started on that today" regarding the OLCC training.
The commission discussed an "Adopt an Intersection" volunteer program for the July 4 parade route: volunteers would place barricades at 9 a.m. at a chosen intersection and return them to the sidewalk after the last parade entry passes. The commission will provide vests and basic traffic-control wands for volunteers and will list available intersections on cityofestacada.org.
Organizers said they still needed one alcohol monitor and a few other volunteers but otherwise are on schedule for Uncorked; commissioners asked members to circulate flyers and help with banner placement. No policy changes were made at the meeting.
