Christine, director of the Bethel Park Public Library, reported that the library raised $42,460.87 during the 10th annual Love Your Library month in September. She said part of those funds are eligible for a $200,000 matching pool annually provided by the Jack Buncher Family Foundation for Allegheny County’s 46 libraries.
Christine thanked the Friends of the Library for a $25,000 donation of funds raised on the library’s behalf during the year. She said those funds will be used to install ADA automatic door openers on the library’s two interior doors.
Christine also announced a Friends of the Library happy-hour fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.; tickets are $30 each or two for $50. She said the event is 21 and over and will include food, wine, beer and a library scavenger hunt. The director noted the Friends group is a key support organization for local fundraising and programming.
The library report was delivered during the officials’ reports section of the Oct. 13 council meeting; no council action was taken on the report.
