The city manager told the Pico Rivera City Council on Oct. 14 that staff will prepare and distribute a memo analyzing potential local impacts if the federal government shutdown continues.

"We'll be preparing a memo, shortly and distributing it to the city council regarding the potential impacts of the extended government shutdown and how it, impact, the the city here," the city manager said at the meeting, noting that Los Angeles County had completed its own assessment and estimated impacts of about $120,000,000 per week.

The manager said the city will perform a similar analysis and expected to present findings to the council; when asked, the manager said that analysis would be brought to the next city council meeting. The city manager also said if the shutdown extends through December, there would be impacts the city must address.

No formal action or budget decision was taken on Oct. 14; the report was presented as a staff notification and a memo was promised for a future agenda.
