The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday approved four settlements discussed in closed session, authorizing payments the clerk read into the record totaling $1,017,500.
The clerk summarized the recommended settlements during the public meeting: up to $112,500 for Cynthia Menchaca; up to $150,000 for Stella Coninien; up to $280,000 for Noritza Gerezian; and up to $375,000 for Maria del Carmen Gonzalez. The council approved the expenditures by roll call, with 13 ayes recorded.
A council member identified as the Budget and Finance chair told the chamber that the Budget and Finance Committee had considered and approved items 41 through 44 in committee on Oct. 7 and recommended council approval.
Clerks then opened and closed the roll and the record shows the council voted 13 ayes to approve the settlements. The council did not discuss details of the claims during the open session beyond the amounts read into the record.
The payments are listed on the council agenda under closed-session items 41 through 44 and will be processed according to city procedures for settled claims.
