The Finance, Audit and Budget Committee approved a one‑year lease extension amendment between DeKalb County and Sherian's Real Estate LLC. The amendment extends the standard rental agreement through Dec. 31, 2026 and adjusts the rental rate.

The lease extension increases the rental rate to $204,417.68 and the county estimated utility costs of $27,000, for a total estimated annual cost of $231,417.68. County staff explained the extension preserves the county’s option to continue operations at the county‑leased location (which houses UCO and WorkSource) while the administration searches for alternative space; staff described the action as a one‑year holdover to maintain operations if a new site is not secured.

A commissioner moved to approve the extension and the motion passed by voice vote. The committee asked staff to continue searching for alternate county‑owned or leased locations, including options around Memorial Drive.

The lease extension was approved and will keep county operations at the current site through the end of 2026 unless an alternative is secured.
