Gilbert Unified debuts bus with electronic mirrors; transportation director says fleet modernization underway

Transportation Director Trace Tolby told the Gilbert Unified District Governing Board on Oct. 14 that the district has received a Thomas HDX 84-passenger general-education bus equipped with camera-based electronic mirrors and expects four more buses to arrive later in the month.
Tolby said the district has been approved to operate the buses with electronic mirrors and that Gilbert Unified is the first district in North America to receive that school-bus approval. "We are the first district in North America to get approved to run a bus with electronic mirrors," Tolby said.
