Palm Valley Animal Society clears Trenton shelter and begins moving operations to new North Edinburgh facility

Palm Valley Animal Society announced on McAllen News Update that it is closing its Trenton shelter and moving operations to a new facility in North Edinburgh, the Lori P. Andrews center, after the Trenton location became unsuitable for long-term animal care.
"That location has been open for 52 years, next February," Jared Munoz of Palm Valley Animal Society said on air, adding that the organization partnered with NBCUniversal and Telemundo to clear the shelter in August and rehomed "a whopping 524 animals from that shelter." Munoz said the shelter will need additional kennel space at the new site and is working with the city and other municipal partners on the transition.
Munoz described the North Edinburgh site as having indoor kennels and air conditioning that will protect animals from extreme heat. He said the shelter needs donations of pet beds and transport crates, which are used for moving animals between shelters and on large transport flights that can carry dozens of animals at a time.
The Palm Valley Animal Society said adoption and foster applications are available on its website and that adopters may be able to leave with an animal the same day. The broadcast stated shelter hours as about noon to 6 p.m. on most days. The program did not provide a calendar date for the full transfer of operations or a detailed budget for kennel construction.
