McAllen officials and community members marked the opening of a new city park located between Morse Middle School and Perez Elementary with a ribbon cutting, hosts Crystal Garcia and Samantha Casares said on the McAllen News Update program.
The park is ADA accessible and features a lighted field, walking trails, chess tables and benches. "The care we have for our community, for the children, for the people, our community…is utilized mostly by the school. But after school hours, people are invited to come with their families, walk the trails," an on-air speaker said, noting that the trail connects "all the way from Bicentennial all the way to Edinburgh."
According to the announcement, the park is open to the public seven days a week until 11 p.m. The report said the facility will be used by the adjacent schools during school hours and by residents outside of school hours.
City representatives did not provide a construction cost or a management plan during the broadcast. No formal city ordinance or citation was mentioned on air.
