Fox Chapel Area School Board approves contracts, personnel actions, emergency plan and HVAC change orders

The Fox Chapel Area School District Board of School Directors on Oct. 13 approved a set of routine financial, personnel and operations items, including ratifying new hires for transportation, several contracts for instructional and support services, multiple change orders for the Hartwood Elementary HVAC project, and the district's comprehensive emergency management plan.
The board voted unanimously (one member absent) to carry the motions presented across committee reports and staff recommendations. Votes on individual items were taken by roll call; Mr. Frank was recorded absent at the start of the meeting.
The board approved: ratification of additional ABC Transit Inc. school bus drivers for the 2025–26 school year; a package of Hartwood Elementary HVAC change orders presented by facilities staff; routine fund disbursements and budget transfers; ratification of partnership and services agreements with Seton Hill University, Wesley Family Services, and MGT Impact Solutions LLC; personnel resignations and appointments; first readings of a group of revised policies and retirement of one policy; the district comprehensive emergency management plan (multi-hazard plan) and related cybersecurity service agreements; a district employee safety incentive program; and acceptance of donated band equipment to district music programs.
Staff and board members emphasized that the Hartwood change orders were reviewed by the Fox Chapel Area School Authority and the board's facilities committee and presented as necessary for building safety and the project's completion. The board also noted the annual requirement to approve the comprehensive emergency management plan, which staff said aligns the district with federal and state guidance.
Several agenda items were moved and seconded by board members in the normal course; roll-call results were recorded for each motion and the clerk announced "motion carries" after affirmative tallies.
The meeting included presentations and reports (student recognitions and school program updates) earlier in the evening; those are covered in separate reports. The board adjourned after routine board comments and announcements.
