District reports increases on fall FastBridge assessments; more data to come

Stacy Piper, the district’s director of curriculum, presented fall FastBridge assessment results and said the data show increases in proficiency in many grades compared with last year. Piper told the board the math results show “16 out of 20 increases” and that reading/literacy also shows several increases.
Piper walked the board through baseline goals and action steps drawn from district planning documents and noted that FastBridge is administered three times per year; statewide Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are given once in spring and results arrive later. The director said the district will continue to report multiple assessments throughout the year so the board can track trends.
Board members asked questions and were reminded that some statewide training and program requirements for reading instruction remain unclear; Piper said the state should provide more detail in January and that those requirements could affect planning for the 2027–28 calendar and professional development.
No formal action was taken. Board members expressed general appreciation for the upward trend and asked staff to continue reporting subsequent FastBridge administrations and state assessment results as they arrive.
