Buckeye makes bulk trash pickup appointment-only; residents can schedule up to 4 annual collections

Bulk trash collection in Buckeye is now by appointment only, a staff member announced, and residents with active trash accounts may schedule up to 4 pickups per year using an online form at buckeyeaz.gov.

The change is intended to reduce curb clutter and make collections more convenient, the staff member said. To schedule a pickup, residents must complete the online form and include their account number and customer ID from their utility bill. Requests should be submitted more than 1 business day before the household's regular trash day; requests made within 1 business day of that day will be pushed to the following week.

City staff described placement and size rules for bulk piles: place the pile in front of the home (not on the sidewalk, street, or alley); keep it at least 5 feet from any fixed object; and limit piles to 6 feet long by 6 feet wide by 6 feet high. Small items should be bagged; branches must be cut to 3 feet and tied; and landscaping waste should be bundled.

Staff also listed items that are not accepted in bulk trash collections: bricks, concrete, asphalt, metal, rebar, fence posts, tires, rims, automobile parts and household hazardous waste. Household hazardous waste may be dropped off at the city's public works yard, staff said. The announcement emphasized the new online scheduling form and the importance of reading the service’s fine print before submitting requests. The staff member said the policy is designed to help keep Buckeye clean while making bulk trash pickups more convenient and easier for residents.
