CRA reviews capital projects across the county; board approves minutes

Susan Kora of the Martin County Office of Community Development gave a broad capital-projects update at the CRA meeting on Sept. 22, reporting progress on several projects across the county and announcing upcoming community touchpoints.
Kora said the landscape-vision pilot project will hold a community touchpoint on Oct. 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; the event will include food and giveaways and present conceptual designs. She also noted that Rio’s two concurrent projects — a 707 streetscape enhancement and a property and civic center design — are using the same consultant and have an intensive public-engagement schedule; a NAC meeting will be held Thursday at the Vince Bekino Center (not the Log Cabin) for community input.
On Hobe Sound’s Dixie Highway stormwater and streetscape project, Kora said the county received four RFQ submissions; a selection committee shortlisted three teams to present and contract negotiations are expected in early October, but the project remains under the procurement “cone of silence.” Port Salerno Park Drive is in construction and New Monrovia Park improvements will be bid soon, she said.
Kora highlighted survey results from the Rio projects and the landscape pilot: residents listed shade trees as their top priority, followed by landscaping and public art. She asked CRA board members to attend outreach events and to share materials with neighbors.
