Board reviews policy updates: iAcademy exceptions and proposal to move reassignment deadline earlier

On school-assignment policy 4150, staff proposed changing the reassignment application deadline from June 1 to an earlier date to assist with teacher allotments and planning. Administrators recommended moving the deadline to May 1 to balance families need to know assignments and the districts need for earlier enrollment counts; board members discussed alternatives including April 1 but heard staff say a May 1 deadline would better avoid conflicts where families lack information about next-year assignments. Staff also proposed clarifying permitted reasons for reassignment in the policy text to align with the application form and to improve transparency.

The items were presented as first readings with staff indicating adjustments could be made before second reading. No formal policy votes occurred at this meeting.
