North Aurora approves replacement of MYAC units at both treatment plants, awards sole-source contract

The North Aurora Village Board on Oct. 6 approved a sole-source purchase and contract award of $163,020.86 to Donora Water Technologies to replace MYAC chlorine-generation systems at both village water treatment plants.
"The cells have begun to degrade and are operating abnormally and failing to maintain a consistent output," said Bridal, presenting the item and explaining that the current systems were installed in 2017 and 2019. Bridal said life expectancy for the units is five to seven years and that Donora Water Technologies is the sole-source provider of compatible equipment.
Staff said the village budgeted $190,000 for the project and asked the board to waive the formal bidding process and approve the sole-source award to Donora. The board approved the request; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
The contract award covers replacement of cells and associated equipment needed to restore consistent chlorine production at both plants, staff said. No additional amendments or implementation dates beyond award were provided in the discussion at the meeting.
