Urbana Housing Authority leadership told the board the agency completed a go-live with a Yardi property-management software conversion and said staff are working through implementation issues.
The authority recognized two staff champions: Tavares Collins, education coordinator for YouthBuild, and Kendall Wayne. The board also presented special recognition to Jean Wingler, who was promoted to director of business services after 30 years with the authority. Jean and other staff credited a team effort during the Yardi conversion.
Staff listed new hires and promotions, including Rob Lang (construction trainer, YouthBuild), Ayanna Johnson (HTV specialist), Mariah Taylor (HTV clerk), Deandre Perkins (maintenance tech), Santos (maintenance tech), Stewart Walker (education coordinator, YouthBuild), Ronnie Bridal (maintenance tech), Melissa Johnson (property manager), Kelly Novak (property manager at Spirit), and Ashari Williams (promoted from YouthBuild graduate to assistant property manager at Douglas Square).
Staff reported the Yardi conversion is live but has produced a few hiccups; managers said the team is working to correct issues and that the system will ultimately improve operational efficiency. Staff also described outreach and events including a community informational session, a back-to-school event at Oakwood Trace, youth garden beautification and alumni outreach for program graduates.
Tavares Collins, the YouthBuild education coordinator, said, "I'm just grateful... I love the students. I love the kids. Love what I do," expressing appreciation after receiving an award. Jean Wingler said the Yardi conversion "has been a true team effort" and thanked named staff for their support.
