The Board of Trustees for the Town and City of Bloomington met Monday, Sept. 22. Township assessor Steve Skudder reported on the 2025 assessment roll and trustees approved the consent agenda before adjourning.
Skudder said the assessor’s office submitted assessments for 2025 to the county and learned the county applied an additional 2% multiplier to the submitted values. He told trustees that some exemption figures in the report packet had not been updated and therefore may not reflect final exemption amounts on the tax roll. "I would encourage anybody that doesn't believe that their property value is what's stated in their assessment notice to file a complaint with the board of review and let the board determine the value for 2025," Skudder said. He noted there is a 30-day window to file a complaint and said the assessment should be published on Sept. 29, according to the county supervisor of assessment.
Skudder invited property owners with questions to contact his office and said he would return from his conference by Friday to respond to calls or emails. Township supervisor Deb Scoward did not attend in person; the trustees were told she had submitted a report in the meeting packet.
Votes at a glance: The consent agenda was approved on a motion by Trustee Straus and seconded by Trustee Hendricks; the clerk reported the motion passed with no nays. A motion to adjourn, made by Trustee Strazza and seconded by Trustee Dannenberger, passed by voice vote.
The meeting record shows trustees briefly addressed the assessor’s update and took no further action beyond noting the report and approving routine business. The trustees indicated the assessor’s report would "stand" without a separate acceptance vote, and the meeting concluded with adjournment.
