The Miami‑Dade County Transportation and Public Works Committee on a recent morning recognized Kathleen Vargas as the Citizens’ Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ambassador for April through June 2025, honoring her volunteer feedback work on the county transit system.
Committee members presented Vargas with an engraved plaque and an award of 5,000 points, and committee staff credited her with completing feedback surveys that earned 37,750 points during the second quarter of 2025. Staff said Vargas joined the CITT ambassador program in December 2022 and has been active since that time.
Javier (staff) introduced the recognition and invited Vargas to the podium. Javier said, “congratulations on being recognized as the CITT ambassador of the quarter for the period of April through June 2025. In honor of your outstanding volunteer service, we're happy to present you with this beautifully engraved plaque,” and noted the additional 5,000 points.
Kathleen Vargas, identified in the meeting as the honoree, responded: “Yes. I wanted to say thank you, for being in this dedicated work and, you know, for the volunteer opportunity to, you know, thank you so much.”
The committee encouraged regular transit riders to apply for the CITT ambassador program and provided a contact for the program coordinator. Meeting materials and staff referenced the Miami‑Dade County website for applications and named Cheryl Meisel as the CITT Ambassador Program Coordinator.
The committee and staff thanked the Department of Transportation and Public Works for collaborating on the program and offered a photo opportunity following the presentation.
