Construction updates: Roosevelt middle arts wing finished interior; Liberty Hill and Lake Wylie progress on schedule

District facilities staff provided a monthly capital‑projects update, reporting progress at Roosevelt Middle School, Liberty Hill Elementary and Lake Wylie High School and noting the district remains ahead of schedule on several packages.

At Roosevelt Middle School the fine‑arts wing interior is complete; exterior railings and the canopy have been installed and landscaping work is underway. Facilities said a final fire‑marshal inspection remains pending and could take another week.

At Liberty Hill Elementary crews have removed an estimated 10,000 cubic yards of rock from the site; masonry and footing work are under way and roof truss assembly is being staged in the parking area. Facilities cautioned the rock removal could affect contingency spending but said some contingency was included in project approvals.

At Lake Wylie High School work continued across wings G and H, the gym and cafeteria roofing and the athletics footprint. Facilities staff showed video of the site and said Cannonball Run improvements (turn lanes and medians) are under construction; they described the site as “impressive” and said retaining walls addressed prior site grade differences. The presenter said the general-contractor schedule remains roughly three to four weeks ahead, and that critical milestones over the summer will be monitored closely.

Facilities staff also noted the board previously approved the athletics‑package award to Southern Builders (contract negotiated down to approximately $8.99 million) and said crews are mobilizing on that package. Board members asked about schedule confidence and were told the team remains cautiously optimistic but will track critical path items through the summer.

Staff invited board members to schedule site visits after the July 4 period to see progress at the schools.
