The district will begin public outreach the week of Aug. 11, post preliminary line options at the August school‑board meeting (Aug. 25), and launch an online feedback form linked from a dedicated reassignment web page. Staff said they will host three community forums: Sept. 4 at Oak Ridge Middle School (east), Sept. 11 at Clover Middle School (west) and Sept. 16 at the CSD Auditorium (central). The board is scheduled to vote on final lines at its Sept. 22 meeting.
Public‑information staff said the outreach campaign will use texts, social media, press releases and direct emails to families and staff; the district will group incoming feedback weekly and present common themes to administrators and the board. The district plans to delay recognitions at the Sept. 22 meeting to allow full discussion of the lines that night and will push a media and family‑notification blitz immediately after the board votes.
Presenters emphasized the compressed schedule is necessary because the district cannot finalize staffing moves until it knows student counts by school; the staff recommended a two‑month public process to balance speed and public input. “We want to make sure that no family or staff member or student is unaware of what the lines will be or how to get the information they need,” the presenter said.
Board members asked about the timeline and whether two months is sufficient; staff replied that prior attempts to shorten the timeline had proven insufficient and that the August–September window allows required staffing and logistical decisions to proceed.
The district will post timelines, forms and maps on a reassignment page and encourage public participation at the three forums and via the online feedback tool before the Sept. 22 decision.
