Clover district staff outline rezoning trade-offs, recommend two boundary fixes ahead of vote

Clover School District staff on Thursday reviewed public feedback collected at two community forums and online and presented neighborhood-level student counts and growth projections ahead of a board vote scheduled next week.

The presentation, led by district staff, front‑loaded two recommendations: return a group of Clarendon Estates addresses on Oak Ridge Road to their prior assignments, and restore a Barrett Road / North Highway 321 dividing line so those homes remain assigned to their current schools. “As of right now, there are 22 elementary students, 6 middle, and 27 high school students in this area,” Dr. Hopkins said when describing the Clarendon Estates correction.

Why it matters: The district must balance current enrollments with projected growth from approved housing developments. Staff said there are 2,333 approved units remaining in the town and unincorporated county that should factor into long‑term building utilization. Moving small groups now could postpone, but not eliminate, additional boundary changes later as neighborhoods grow.
