County staff told commissioners they are preparing documentation to effectuate the closing of a 2023 purchase-and-sale agreement for the building currently housing the police department.

Under the 2023 agreement, the county agreed to acquire the building from the city (purchase price referenced as $201,600) upon substantial completion of a new public safety facility. Staff said the land under the building has been county-owned historically while the building was owned by the city. To create a clear public record of the transfer, county staff said they will prepare a quitclaim deed that references the purchase-and-sale agreement and will deliver that draft to city counsel and City Council representatives so the city may sign the deed in its role as conveyor.

Staff said they expect to provide the draft to city staff for consideration and seek signatures at the next city meeting if needed; no formal commission action was required at the meeting beyond direction to prepare the deed and coordinate execution. County staff noted the intent is to ensure future title searches will clearly reflect the 2025 transaction.
