Clay County commissioners voted to approve an addendum to the 2021 lease between the county and the Clay County Park Association that clarifies the lease term and assigns hunting rights and liability to the park association.
County staff described the addendum as serving three purposes: (1) restating that the lease is month-to-month and may be terminated by either party with 30 days’ notice; (2) assigning to the park association any hunting rights the county previously held under the lease so the association can manage those rights and enter into state hunting agreements; and (3) explicitly assigning hunting liability to the Clay County Park. The presenter told commissioners that the park board had reviewed a draft and did not see issues at its recent meeting.
Staff noted a small sliver of land near Timber Road and the highway department that may not be included in the lease; the presenter said he would confirm whether that parcel is part of the lease and report back. Commissioners approved the addendum by voice vote.
