Atchison County approves $10,500 purchase order to BG Consultants for Road & Bridge facility planning

Atchison County commissioners voted Oct. 14 to approve a $10,500 purchase order to BG Consultants to finish work on plans for a Road & Bridge facility.
Joe Snyder, the county’s Road and Bridge superintendent, told commissioners the original contract with BG Consultants was $62,800. He said prior payments totalled about $47,039.60 and that approving the additional $10,500 would leave about $4,900 remaining under the contract. Snyder said the work paid for by the purchase order will produce a bid package but the county will not release bids until the board decides on the overall project scope.
Commissioners said they intend to use proceeds from the Senior Village sale to fund the project and noted the Senior Village fund is invested to accrue earnings while the board finalizes a comprehensive plan. The board approved the purchase order by voice vote, 2 to 0 (Commissioners Quinn and Knoll voting in favor; Commissioner Campbell absent).
The Road and Bridge superintendent said BG Consultants will pause further tasks beyond preparing the bid package until the county decides the project’s final scope and funding.
