Crook County proclaims October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Crook County Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation Oct. 15 declaring October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Crook County and encouraged residents to participate in prevention and outreach.
Joanna Gardner, regional services manager with Saving Grace, spoke at the meeting and described the services her organization provides to people who have experienced domestic violence. Gardner asked the commissioners to declare the month to bring awareness and support for law enforcement and community response partners.
At the meeting the board read a proclamation that cited national statistics about intimate partner violence, affirmed that domestic violence is preventable, and called for community action to support survivors and promote accountability. A commissioner moved to accept the proclamation; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
