The Rockville Planning Commission unanimously approved a special event permit on Oct. 14 for a live nativity presented by Tim Arnold on behalf of Zion Academy. The event will be held at 276 Grafton Road on two evenings in December 2025, with hot chocolate, donuts and an expected attendance of roughly 50 people per night.
Arnold told commissioners the program will follow the same script as the prior year but will include four additional student participants who will sing. Commissioners who attended last year described the program as enjoyable. The motion to approve referenced the event’s prior permit in 2024 and noted an estimated maximum attendance of 50 per evening; the commission’s roll-call vote was unanimous.
The permit is conditioned by the standard coordination with the fire marshal and other routine public-safety checks that apply to special events. The commission’s vote: Andy (aye), Tim (aye), Linda (aye), Ken (aye), Jane Brennan (aye).
