Strafford County subcommittee vets two applicants for commissioner vacancy; delegation to decide Sept. 30

The Strafford County Policies and Procedures Subcommittee met Sept. 12 to review two applicants submitted to fill a county commissioner vacancy left by former Commissioner Joe Petrie, who resigned effective Aug. 7, 2025. The subcommittee confirmed the application closing date was Sept. 10, 2025, at 4 p.m., and that the full delegation will vote on the replacement at a tentative Sept. 30 meeting.

Subcommittee members were presented with resumes from Leslie Feliciano and Susan Rice; staff member Janet Hilber told the group both applicants "do, in fact, live within the district." Members said both candidates appeared qualified. Peter Schmidt said the resumes showed both applicants were well qualified and noted that delegates at the September meeting could also nominate candidates from the floor.
