The property owner, who identified himself as Nero and said he had received a demolition notice, asked for additional time to remove belongings and said he planned to demolish the structure himself. “I just want a little extension for just, like, maybe end of this month, and it'll be done,” Nero said.
Councilmembers agreed to a 30-day period to allow the owner to remove belongings and complete demolition; they also said that if the work was not finished in that time the city would demolish the structure and charge the cost to the property owner. The council’s action was recorded as a rule-to-show-cause and directive to demolish within 30 days if not remediated by the owner.
