Board approves cooperative sponsorship with White River for boys and girls wrestling

The Todd County School District 66-1 board approved a cooperative sponsorship resolution to permit boys and girls wrestling between Todd County School District and White River School District.

Chris and other coaches initiated the request when White River students expressed interest in joining a wrestling program. "He approached me just a couple weeks ago and said, listen. You know, we would like to do this," a district athletics representative said. Board members said the coop will bring more students into the program and could allow Todd County to host meets by filling more weight classes.

Board members discussed logistics including transportation (White River is providing travel for its students), practice space and scheduling with elementary programs and archery also using district facilities. Athletic staff said White River students would represent Todd County in competition (wearing the Falcons uniform) and be expected to attend practices and follow team rules; the district will not provide transportation for those students beyond hosting responsibilities.

The resolution required White River approval and activity-association clearance before it would take effect. On a motion by Mark (board member) with a second by Amanda (board member), the board approved the cooperative sponsorship; the transcript records voice votes in favor and no roll-call tally was specified.

District staff said they will sign and forward necessary documents to Swaddlers (the activities/association office) to finalize the agreement and will continue conversations about facility availability and scheduling. No additional district budget appropriation was adopted at the meeting for the coop.

Outcome: cooperative sponsorship approved; implementation contingent on counterpart approval and activity-association signoff.
