District says bed-bug treatments conducted at Grover Cleveland Middle School; IMP plan ongoing

Superintendent Dr. Finari told the board Monday that Grover Cleveland Middle School identified bed bugs earlier in October and that district staff implemented targeted pest-control measures consistent with the district’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan.
“In accordance with the guidance from the EPA … the district employs a licensed pest management company to support the district’s Integrated Pest Management or IMP plan,” Dr. Finari said. He added that the identified areas were treated as “issue-specific pest control measures” while other components of the IPM plan remain in place.
Dr. Finari said Grover Cleveland Middle School administrators have been “very communicative with staff and parents,” providing updates on the treatment and on continued IPM implementation. He described the district’s facilities manager as leading the effort and said treatments are scheduled periodically during the year as part of routine and issue-specific pest control.
No remediation timeline or follow-up testing protocol was specified beyond the statement that treatments were handled by a licensed pest management company and that notifications were sent to staff and parents. The board did not take any formal vote on the matter Monday; the superintendent described it as an informational update.
