Neshaminy superintendent reports student death, highlights student honors and Maple Point Veterans Day ceremony

Neshaminy School District Superintendent Mr. Bowman told the board the district had lost a student and asked members to observe a moment of silence.

"It was with great sadness that I let everybody know that we lost a student at Neshaminy High School today," Superintendent Bowman said. He identified the student as Ryan Duffy, a senior at Neshaminy High School, who "passed away after a brief illness." Bowman asked the board and audience to join in a moment of silence; the board extended condolences to the Duffy family.

Bowman also reported several recognitions and school activities. He congratulated 207 Neshaminy High School students inducted into the National Honor Society, noting that students accepted into NHS are required to maintain a 3.75 grade-point average and complete 20 hours of community service per year. He reported Tri-M Music Honor Society and International Thespian Society inductions at the high school and said Herbert Hoover Elementary second-grade teacher Laura Krantz received a 2025 A+ Educator Award from Bucks County Parent Magazine.

Maple Point Middle School teachers Erica Crozier and Carol Foley introduced students Colson Fine and Peyton Hart, who invited veterans to the school's annual Veterans Day ceremony. Colson Fine and Peyton Hart said the ceremony will be Monday, Nov. 10, 2025; attendees should arrive at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments and check-in and the ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Veterans who wish to attend were asked to contact Maple Point Middle School at (215) 809-6230 or register in the main office.

Bowman encouraged board members and the public to attend and thanked staff and students for organizing the events.

The board later reiterated condolences to the Duffy family during the meeting's board comment period.

No action was taken on the announcements; they were presented as part of the superintendent's report and community outreach items.
