The Green Bay Protection Policy Committee on Monday recommended that the Common Council approve an appeal reversing the denial of an excess animal permit for a property at 917 Belk Avenue.
Staff told the committee the property’s required fence work has been completed and signed off by inspection and that Officer Mavis had no current objections. Committee members also noted two letters from neighbors in support of the permit. After brief comments from the property resident, the committee voted to recommend approval.
A resident who spoke after the vote thanked the committee and said the dogs ‘‘would never not have a family.’’ Committee members recorded the recommendation for final consideration by the Common Council, which the committee’s chair said will take up the item at its Oct. 22 meeting.
Because the committee’s vote is a recommendation, the final decision rests with the Common Council at its next meeting. The clerk’s office will notify the appellant about next steps following council action.
