Mister Touchet, presenting to the Lafayette Parish School System board, summarized the district's approved capital projects and their status, saying the list reflects roughly $280,000,000 in board-approved work and showing which projects are near completion.
Touchet said maintenance staff and the facilities team are overseeing numerous projects, and he highlighted that Lafayette High remains in active work: the new gym has been installed but the front entry and back-end work are incomplete. "You can see that the front is still not completed. We're still getting that new gym up and running," Touchet said. He thanked Dr. Robele and Josh Fontenot and their teams for managing the projects.
Board members asked about other sites. Touchet said Ernest Golet, Broadmoor and Milton were not on the current report because the district was still selecting architects for those projects; when architect selection is complete the projects will be added to the tracking report. He estimated those three projects together would total about $19.5 million to $20 million.
Separately, a board member reported that the bonding commission was scheduled to meet the next morning to consider the district's sale of bonds for JW Falk site construction. "The JW Falk site construction, the bonding commission is meeting tomorrow morning to approve our sale of our bond," a board member said.
No formal board action was taken during the update; staff said the tracking report is intended to give board members and the public a comprehensive view of active capital investments and project sequencing.
