Redevelopment agency approves $25,000 exterior grant for Pereira’s Union Place storefront

The applicant, Mr. Pereira, spoke to the agency about his reasons for staying in and investing in downtown. “We wanna be able to direct people and basically celebrate the entire arts district,” he said, describing the project as “a passion project” that he and his wife plan to fund largely from their own resources.
Staff noted the property is one block east of a new residential development on Cedar Street that will open next year, and called the storefront a likely contributor to downtown activity and the arts district’s energy.
No formal vote tally or roll-call votes are recorded in the transcript; the clerk announced the motion carried.
