The City Commission approved at first reading Ordinance 25-34 on Sept. 11 to amend the code section governing peddlers, solicitors and itinerant vendors so homeowners associations (HOAs) may apply for up to two special-event permits per year that include mobile food dispensing vehicles (food trucks).

Staff said the change responds to many neighborhood requests and is intended to provide more low-cost community-event options while continuing to protect the interests of local brick-and-mortar restaurants. Each event would require a special-event permit and staff review of impacts on surrounding streets and neighborhoods.

Staff recommended approval; the ordinance passed at first reading and will return for second reading and final public hearing on Sept. 25, 2025.
