Armando Perez, region manager with Encore Electric Delivery, told council the company was asking the council to deny the rate request so the case would be sent to the Public Utility Commission of Texas for review under the state process. Perez said the item as presented was deliberately framed to ask council to deny so the PUC would have jurisdiction to deliberate and act on the proposed rate change.
Council members thanked Perez for his responsiveness during recent extreme weather events and credited his engagement in the community for helping address outages and infrastructure updates in neighborhoods such as Stonewater. After brief comments, council moved and passed the resolution denying the application; the denial triggers formal review by the PUC under applicable Texas administrative procedures.
