City staff presented the 2025 Manor Community Day 5K report, summarizing registration, expenses, sponsorship and marketing outcomes and recommending timing and promotional changes for 2026.
Derek White, who presented the report, said total registration for the 5K was 41 and noted that the event did not include the kids’ 1K this year. He provided an itemized expense list that included event shirts ($1,618), finisher medals ($1,392.50), an arch rental and generator from Austin Bounce House Rentals ($738.61), off-duty police officers and vehicles ($960) and $250 in paid Facebook ads. Total expenses paid to Evolution of Health were $4,959.11; revenue was $1,406 (about $1,326 from registrations and $80 from donations).
Organizers reported 101 shirts purchased, that vendors were not charged fees this year, and that sponsors included Black Men’s Health Clinic and Central Health. The report recommended reserving Saturday, Jan. 6, 2026 for the next Manor Community Day and starting the 5K at 8 a.m. with the kids’ 1K at 10 a.m. to encourage vendor visits and family participation. Evolution of Health will continue to oversee the run and asked the city to help promote vendor attendance.
Councilmembers and staff discussed promotion and timing; the city’s new marketing and communications coordinator, Ashlyn Taylor (introduced earlier in the meeting), was identified as a contact for city promotion. Council members suggested starting earlier and seeking more local vendor participation.
Organizers said limited planning time and promotion contributed to this year’s lower turnout and that they expect higher participation if the city and organizers can secure and advertise the January date well in advance.
