Choctaw Countys industrial-development staff reported Oct. 7 on recent outreach and on a meeting with Dylan Arnett of Kinder Morgan. Staff said Kinder Morgan indicated construction work in the county is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2027 and to be substantially complete by November 2028; staff said the pipeline route will include about six miles of new pipeline inside Choctaw County.

Staff said Kinder Morgan representatives indicated they planned to share information about temporary construction jobs and opportunities for local hires and that the project may create roughly 15 permanent positions, depending on contractor selections. Staff said the company expressed interest in hiring or contracting locally for some temporary construction roles and in being engaged with community stakeholders.

Separately, the countys industrial-development representative reported the countys banquet drew 89 attendees (not counting student volunteers) and asked the commission to approve attendance at the upcoming Rural Summit for economic developers; the commission approved the staff members attendance in November in Prattville and agreed to cover accommodation costs.

The presentation was informational; staff said further meetings with Kinder Morgan and contractor outreach would follow as project timelines firmed up.
