The Choctaw County Commission approved a revised agreement with the Town of Butler for this year—s ButlerFest and agreed to close the courthouse at noon on Oct. 10 to allow vendor setup.
The county attorney and staff presented a revised ButlerFest agreement; the only substantive change in the current revision addressed use of county property because of ongoing construction of the new county jail. The agreement clarifies what property may be used and any special requirements related to construction work.
Separately, the commission voted to close the courthouse at noon Oct. 10 (the Friday before the event) so vendors can set up and use courthouse electrical outlets without disrupting courthouse operations. Commissioners noted prior practice of closing mid-day for vendor setup.
Commissioner (transcript: Chee) moved to approve the ButlerFest agreement; Commissioner Jackson seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote. A separate motion to close the courthouse at noon Oct. 10 also passed.
