Teaneck Board amends calendar, adopts ethics and sends new decorum policy to policy committee

Calendar changes: Trustees discussed several date conflicts in June and October 2025 related to Jewish holidays and the New Jersey School Boards Association conference. After discussion the board amended the calendar: June 18 was changed to June 11 for one scheduled meeting; an October workshop meeting was moved from Oct. 8 to Oct. 9 and the board agreed to make October a single combined workshop/public meeting month to avoid conflict with the state conference (transcript discussion recorded). Publication of notices: Trustees discussed recently signed state legislation about public notice publication and whether the district may post notices on digital platforms in addition to newspapers. The board amended its notice motion to include digital publication and retained print publication in the Star-Ledger for now; the board asked legal counsel to draft any required language.
Code of ethics and decorum: Trustees read the ten items of the code of ethics into the record and the board voted to adopt that code. Several trustees raised concerns that the code lacked language about expected deportment (behavior) at public meetings.
