The Teaneck Board of Education amended its 2025 meeting calendar at the Jan. 7 reorganization meeting to avoid scheduling conflicts with religious observances and the New Jersey School Boards Association conference.
After discussion the board approved moving the June workshop/regular meeting originally scheduled for June 18 to June 11. Trustees also debated several options for October, noting conflicts with Jewish holidays and the statewide school board conference. The board agreed to consolidate October meetings so the district will hold a single combined workshop/regular meeting that month; the board directed staff to finalize a date that avoids the New Jersey School Boards Association conference and local observances.
Board members discussed alternatives โ including October 9, October 23 and October 29 โ and asked staff to accommodate attendees and conference schedules. Trustees said staff would publish amended dates and that the business office would ensure legal notice requirements were met.
Board members also discussed the scheduling of the annual board retreat and whether to move it later in January to allow new trustees and the president additional time to prepare; no final change to the retreat date was made at the reorganization meeting.
The calendar amendments passed by roll-call vote; trustees said staff will post updated meeting notices on the district website and arrange newspaper publication as legally required.
The board asked administration to confirm final published dates and to re-notice the calendar to comply with Open Public Meetings Act requirements.
