Teaneck Board installs new trustees, elects Ed as president and Cassandra Reyes as vice president

The Teaneck Board of Education administered the oath of office to newly elected trustees and then elected board leadership during its reorganization meeting on Jan. 7, 2025.
Three trustees — Jonathan Rodriguez, Jennifer Levy and Nadia Hussain — were sworn in at Teaneck High School. Board Secretary Dr. Victor Anaya administered the oath for the new members. After the oath, the board held nominations and votes for president and vice president for the 2025 calendar year.
In the president election, members nominated Ed Hoff and Clara Williams. The board recorded a roll-call vote that produced a 5–4 majority for Ed Hoff, who was declared the board president for 2025. After the vote Hoff assumed the chair and delivered brief remarks, saying, “I am truly humbled by this responsibility.”
For vice president, trustees nominated Jerry Kirschenbaum and Cassandra Reyes. After the roll-call votes the board elected Cassandra Reyes as vice president by majority vote.
The board also adopted routine reorganization items later in the meeting, including distributing and signing a code of ethics and assigning committee responsibilities. Trustees and some staff members used the public portion of the meeting to congratulate the newly seated members and to take photographs after the oath.
The meeting was held in person at Teaneck High School and broadcast virtually; Dr. Anaya noted that meeting notices had been posted on the district website and filed with the municipal clerk.
No formal challenges to either leadership election were recorded in the transcript; both elections were resolved by roll-call votes that the board chair announced at the table.
What’s next: The newly elected president and vice president will preside over upcoming board business, including committee assignments and the district’s regular and workshop meetings scheduled for 2025.
