Ed Ruskie of Mill Valley addressed the Marin County Board of Supervisors during public comment on Aug. 26, asking the board to consider adopting a resolution that condemns what he described as unconstitutional actions by the federal government since Jan. 20.

Ruskie told the board the resolution text draws on language from resolutions already adopted in other counties and said he had provided a copy to the clerk for the board’s consideration. He urged the board to consult with County Counsel before acting.

Ruskie said, “This built local ownership of resistance. Now in many places in The United States, cities and counties are debating and passing such resolutions directed at the unconstitutional acts of the federal government. In this vein, I'm asking resolution for your consideration and hopefully, adoption.” He later added that he had handed the document to the clerk: “I've already given this to the clerk.”

The speaker’s comments were made during the open-time public expression portion of the special meeting; the board did not take immediate action on the request and did not indicate a timeline for County Counsel review or any future agenda placement.
