Placer County selects Miles Treaster to design and supply Auburn Library furniture in $798,286 agreement

Placer County supervisors on Oct. 14 approved a two-phase agreement with Miles Treaster and Associates for space planning, furniture design and installation at the Auburn Library and authorized a budget amendment of $999,815 funded from library reserves.
Project scope and timing: The furniture and shelving project covers the newly renovated first floor, the second floor and staff areas of the Auburn Library (350 Nevada Street, Auburn). Phase 1 includes design plans, coordination and permit support; Phase 2 covers purchase, delivery and installation. Staff told the board furniture is ineligible in the current construction grant, so the county issued a separate Request for Proposals. Installation is scheduled for spring 2026 to coincide with the completion of the library's modernization project; the library opening is anticipated in summer 2026.
Procurement and budget: Procurement officials said 12 proposals were received in response to a wide RFP distribution and a three-firm interview panel selected Miles Treaster and Associates (MTA). The contract limit is $798,286 subject to counsel and risk-management concurrence; the board approved a budget amendment of $999,815 offset from library reserves. Staff said there is no general-fund impact.
Next steps: The director of general services or designee will execute the agreement and the county will coordinate delivery and installation timed to the construction finish.
