Glynn County human-resources leaders outlined plans to digitize personnel actions, new-hire onboarding and manager training and to use Paycom to centralize payroll, HR and learning functions.
Dwayne Pollock, HR director, said the county aims to convert 50% of paper personnel-action forms to an electronic process and to migrate new-hire orientation to a learning-management system (LMS). Pollock said a hybrid approach will remain: employees will complete online modules while the county keeps a short face-to-face orientation to maintain interpersonal connection.
Pollock said a manager and supervisor orientation module has already been completed and rolled out as a computer-based training for new managers. He said the modules include employee-relations topics such as performance management and discipline management that supervisors historically struggle with.
On benefits administration, Pollock said the county aims to have 75% of qualifying-life-event benefit changes submitted via employee self-service; the county reported it is at 80% on that metric and will move the workflow into Paycom for seamless attachments and routing.
County HR staff said Paycom is intended to be an all-in-one hire-to-retire platform integrating learning, benefits, payroll and employee records, and that the change will reduce manual work and duplicated data entry.
