Planning commission defers several applications; one withdrawn by applicant

The Planning Commission on Aug. 20 took procedural action on multiple items that were not fully ready for final recommendation.
- Z25‑015 (488 Delano Road): Staff reported the applicant elected to withdraw the rezoning request; because the commission cannot directly accept a withdrawal the body voted to defer the item to the Oct. 15 planning commission meeting so the applicant may complete the administrative withdrawal at the mayor and council level. Staff indicated the council hearing likely will occur Sept. 9 or Oct. 15 depending on scheduling.
- Z25‑024 / CDP‑009 / U25‑007 (0 Stonewall Hotel Road): The applicant requested deferral of applications seeking rezoning to C‑2, a special use for a gas station and a future‑land‑use amendment; staff recommended deferral and commissioners voted to defer the three linked cases to the Oct. 15 planning commission meeting. Staff recorded 10 speaker cards in opposition for the item; those opponents were urged to return for the Oct. 15 hearing.
- Z25‑027 (2860 Butner Road): Staff recommended deferral because the applicant did not submit the required public participation plan; commissioners deferred the case to the Sept. 16 planning commission meeting.
In each instance the commission either recorded a deferral vote or acknowledged that an applicant‑requested withdrawal will be processed later by council. The deferrals give applicants time to address staff comments, submit required materials, or confirm withdrawal at the council level.
