Roscoe will decorate existing trees for Hometown Holiday; permanent municipal tree deferred

Staff outlined two main options: professionally rent and install a large pre-lit evergreen that could be used for many years — a staff comment placed that option near $30,000 — or groom and decorate an existing smaller tree on private property with the owner’s permission and use additional small trees decorated by youth groups. One staff estimate referenced a figure of about $8,000 for a one-season option and another estimate of roughly $27,000 to have the large tree professionally decorated using a lift.
Board members agreed to the frugal option for this year: groom and decorate the smaller tree (with public-works assistance) and have the youth groups decorate additional small trees. Troy, a staff member, said village crews would begin putting up decorations soon and discussed estimated costs and logistics.
