Roscoe seniors’ group 50 North asks board for financial support after active season

Roscoe — Representatives of 50 North, a local nonprofit senior-citizen organization, asked the Roscoe Village Board on Nov. 19 to consider financial support to keep the group’s activities running.
Diana LaForge, who identified herself as a board member of 50 North, told the board the group meets twice monthly — the first and third Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. — and runs programs that include historical presentations, regular luncheons and occasional guest speakers such as members of the fire department. She said the group hosted a Thanksgiving luncheon the same day with about 70 attendees and described 50 North as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on local support.
"We are still operational. We're still doing activities, and we're hoping to seek some financial support to keep our activities going," LaForge said during public comment.
Board members asked staff to accept a proposal from 50 North for consideration. In response to a later question, a staff member said they would gather the group’s proposal and return it to the board for follow-up.
Ending: The board did not take immediate action on the funding request; staff were asked to collect the organization’s materials for later consideration.
