Board approves small accessory storage at 11212 Main Street; staff requires paved base

The DBA approved a design review for an accessory storage structure at 11212 Main Street during its Jan. 8 meeting, subject to conditions that the structure meet standard setback requirements and be placed on a paved surface before installation.
The structure was described as a small cold storage unit intended to hold aluminum and brake metal behind an existing privacy fence. Applicant Ray said the unit will have "no heat, no electricity." Planning staff told the board the proposal meets zoning height and lot-coverage rules and that the applicant agreed the building would be located 10 feet from the lot lines as required.
"It's just a small little storage facility or just cold storage for aluminum and brake metal," the applicant said. Planner Kevin (staff) told the board the rear of the site is primarily gravel and is being paved over time, and recommended a condition that the accessory structure be placed on a paved surface.
Board members raised no additional concerns and approved the design review by roll call. Staff noted the structure is largely hidden behind the privacy fence and will not be visible from the road.
The approval includes the condition that the structure be sited on pavement and comply with the zoning code setbacks before construction begins. Staff said the usual permit forms and fees must also be completed before work starts.
