Organizers announced a working meeting for the Main Street business alliance — a proposed 501(c)(3) Main Street business association — to begin substantive work on a suite of Main Street activities, and invited interested business owners and residents to participate.
Trustee Wright and other organizers said the first informational presentation occurred previously and that tomorrow’s session at 4 p.m. will be a working meeting for those interested in joining the alliance and helping establish a vision and action plan. Trustee Wright said earlier mailings had low response rates because some letters were lost and phone calls were more effective; organizers now expect about 8–15 participants and said former Beloit staffer Mister Packard will open the session with a brief overview of Beloit’s roll-out to provide examples. The meeting will be held in the same room as the board meeting.
No formal vote or township action was taken; the announcement was informational and intended to solicit community participation in forming a business alliance to take over or supplement village-led Main Street activities.
