Staff reported the desired location is at the end of paved roadway where it transitions to gravel; a contractor’s preliminary quote to plow and direct-bury wire was about $5,500, but ComEd (the regional utility) identified a different junction box that would require either directional boring under a driveway or additional conduit runs. Staff said directional drilling and conduit installation would place the conductor at typical electrical depth (about 30–36 inches) in conduit so it can be replaced or serviced in future. Trustees noted that gates placed at the paved gravel transition reduce vehicle access but that people still walk into the park. The board asked staff to obtain quotes for both the back entrance and potential pavilion/playground lighting and to return with the quotes for capital planning.
Trustees also discussed park-hours enforcement and the possibility of uniform park closing times across village parks to improve enforceability; no ordinance change was adopted, but trustees asked staff to bring hours and enforcement options back for discussion.
